“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.”

~ Psalm 20:7

I am in a group text thread with 3 other DUDES and have been for 10+ years.

Our conversations over the years have certainly changed as we’ve grown older, but of course there’s still some random debauchery, ragging on each other a little bit, talking sports, and it never fails to get good laugh from this group.

These days though, our texts have included more uplifting thoughts, holding each other accountable, providing support in our endeavors, and sharing bad ass things we come across.

Back in February of this year, my guy Marc shared a YouTube video of a professional wrestling match.

Pretty sure the last time I watched professional wrestling was growing up during the days of Hulk Hogan HULKAMANIA BROTHER and Stone Cold Steve Austin opening a can of WHOOP ASS. 🙈

OOHHHH YEEAAHHH BROTHERRR

However, this video was featuring Marc’s BROTHER wrestling in an AEW MAIN EVENT. 😱

HOW FREAKING COOL IS THAT?! 🙌

Family supporting family, and as friends, we’re all family. 👊

Text convo with Marc back on February 13th, 2023

It was pretty cool for me as well, because this was right about the time I was preparing to launch this Storybook and his brother’s story had reminded him of the OPPO FLOW Mindset that I share with so many others. 😁

I immediately reached out to his bro to learn more about his story, his come up, and see if he’d be down to share with YOU.

Obviously he was down, so without further ado, introducing a…

MAN-OF-FAITH 🙏

LOVING-FATHER 👧👦

WRESTLING-MACHINE 🤼‍♂️

ADAN X. RODRIGUEZ AKA AYDAN COLT

Adan is a single father of two amazing children. He is a professional wrestler, trainer, and creative writer for Pro Wrestling Legacy, a wrestling promotion based out of El Paso, Texas. 🤠

He started wrestling back in 2011 and had always wanted to make a serious run at making it a professional career.

He had everything planned and all his money saved up so that after graduating college, he would be able to attend a wrestling school in Philadelphia, but life had other plans.

When the time came for him to graduate in May of 2010, instead of chasing his professional dream in pro wrestling, he chased his personal life dream and proposed to the woman he thought would be his life-long partner.

After she said yes, the money he had saved for wrestling school was spent on being a great husband and providing for her and their future kids.

Which he refers to them as his little minions. 😂

Fast forward to 2014, he found himself battling for custody for his two children while filing for divorce.

He was broken spiritually by what happened and wasn’t focused on trying to make wrestling a career at that time with everything going on.

His personal life took a heavy toll on him, which he found himself needing an outlet and source of happiness aside from his minions. He says…

“I was fine when they were around and kept a smile around other family, but in the quiet times I was suffering. I came to realize that my children, especially my daughter, knew I was hurting inside and that tore a hole in me. I needed a way to bring myself out of the darkness for THEIR sake.”

Adan is a religious man, and as he was praying one night it hit him... 🙏

WRESTLING.

Wrestling had always brought him joy and he had been asking himself…

“How can I bring happiness back into my life, it was so obvious; throw myself back into what I had not been so attentive to since getting divorced.”

He picked himself up and was back at working on the things he needed to…

  • Going to the gym 🏋️‍♂️

  • Creating a social media page 📱

  • Working on character work 📝

  • Studying 🤓

  • Taking trips to wrestle out of state 🤼‍♂️

The more he focused on himself, the more he found that doors started to open up for him. 👏

This leads us back to where we started, in which he says…

“Through all the hard work I kept putting in, it paid off to my biggest success in wrestling yet: to wrestle the main event in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) Dark on February 08, 2023. I got to wrestle in my home town among friends and family in attendance and my mom watching from heaven, as thousands chanted my name during my match. To this day, that fateful Wednesday will always hold a special day in my life.”

Catch the Main Event at the 40:35 mark 👇

Adan is driven by the need to BE AN EXAMPLE for his minions and others in order to pursue his dreams and goals. 🤩

He looks to God to help him show people that life throws you set backs, but with faith and love you can overcome.

His MOM was his best friend in the world and an absolute treasure. He always looked to her for guidance as well. 🌟

The smile came back for him and his mom, when she got to see him happy again, after his divorce, doing the things he loves to do.

She saw him start to rebuild himself little by little and it was all due to taking the time to work on himself and heal.

Sadly, his mom passed away in 2019 due to a brain aneurysm. (RIP🙏)

It absolutely broke him again with the magnitude of an impression she had on him.

This time, however, he decided not to hide it, deny it, or fight it, and allowed himself to grieve.

After she passed he allowed himself to feel, but also told himself that she would be able to watch him shine and to continue applying himself to doing something he loved.

“True success I don’t think anyone ever gets to realize it. I believe success is measured and found by having people remember you after you pass from this life. Success is there as long as one person misses you when you’re gone.

So I won’t ever know if I was successful but as far as an example…. My mom Marisela G. Rodriguez is a success.”

Sometimes extremely challenging times, including tragedy or death of loved ones, can put things in perspective and help us realize that life is short.

During those difficult and emotional times, remember to be patient with yourself and continue to work on the things that bring you the most happiness.

Pick yourself up to make incremental progress each day and get back on your path towards success, doing the things you love. 💪

This helps keep an open mind to take action on things that align and create more opportunity to become the best you can be for those that are still with you and those that rely on you.

It’s not easy to do, but you have PURPOSE in this world. 🌎

Adan Rodriguez aka AYDAN COLT found his purpose again and is accomplishing his dreams. 🤩

SO CAN YOU.

“Stay positive and be grateful in everything, because everything happens for a reason. I am a firm believer now that positive energy brings positive outcomes.”
