HUMILITY - noun
freedom from pride or arrogance: the quality or state of being humble
I learned a new word this week.
We were playing a game called Probe with some friends.
This game has a Wheel of Fortune feel to it and was brought into existence back in the 1960s.
The point of the game is for each person to write a 7+ letter word that is hidden from everyone around the table, and then take turns guessing letters until the word is revealed.
For each correct letter you guess, you get points, and another turn.
The last word standing gets a bonus of 50 points, so the goal is to make it a tough one.
The winning word in one of the rounds was: PONTIFICATE.
I had never heard of the word…
…and I’m not too proud to shy away from asking what it meant. 😊
Come to find out… it’s not a super positive word.
It means to express one's opinions in a way considered annoyingly pompous and dogmatic.
In other words… arrogance.
Basically, it’s not cool to come across as a pontificator.
Pontificating with those around you will undoubtedly rub them the wrong way or won’t do you any favors in developing solid relationships.
You know what the opposite of arrogance is… ?
HUMILITY.
Willing to serve others.
Someone who I can think of that is the epitome of authenticity and HUMILITY…
Keanu Reeves.
And this video explains why.
🤯 THE MINDSET SHIFT 🤯
Being humble isn’t anything new and we all know it’s a good thing.
It’s a trait that well-liked people have.
It’s less about them, and more about the other person.
They are more genuine and authentic; not trying to impress.
They downplay their own achievements and do not seek attention or praise.
They are more focused on the work itself rather than on receiving recognition.
They are willing to learn from others, even if they are experts in their field.
They acknowledge that there is always more to discover and understand.
They are respectful, share gratitude, and are self-aware.
When you’re on a path to achieving great success, and you continue to learn and develop your skillset, your confidence will grow.
Confidence is required, and sharing your work in a positive light is important, but being arrogant with your achievements is not.

Did you know that in medieval art and sculpture, camels were often depicted kneeling to carry heavy loads, which symbolizes HUMILITY and a willingness to help others? Makes sense. Use that as a reminder to be more like a camel 🐫 this week. Be a resource for someone and take the heavy weight off their back.
